I value your love notes to me in Isaiah 55. You promised to satisfy all those who are spiritually hungry and thirsty. You asked us to recognize that we do not have the internal means to satisfy our spiritual cravings. But if we come to you, you will feed us and give us water that sustains life. You promised an everlasting covenant of salvation through your son Jesus Christ. Your only ask is for us to come, listen, and turn over our thoughts and ways to you. In return you have promised mercy and forgiveness. While these promises may defy human comprehension, you remind us that you are God and your ways are higher than ours. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts, As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth; It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55: 8-11
